Introduction
The Ravi Marchi Pirate Mine is located in the metalliferous hills of Gavorrano. The mine opened in 1918, was subsequently enlarged in 1955 and then closed in 1965. Its remains still possesses a historical significance for the area.
Reason to Be Selected
The Ravi Marsh Mine is located in the iron mine in Gavolano. The mineOpened in 1918, it was expanded in 1955 and closed in 1965.Its remains still have a certain historical significance in the region. The project aims to build a park and an outdoor museum using the ruins.Enable people to visit industrial relics. Travel through a winding pathThe passengers showcase the mining process and the spectacular mine environment. The Ravi Marsh mine was built mainly in 1918 and 1955.Two shafts and two “washing ground” groups that extract pyrite from oreCheng, also includes lime kiln, cleaning tank, water tower, woodworking workshop, explosive storageA series of facilities such as a library. During the closure of the iron mine, most of the parts were removed and removed.Sub-machinery, buried, enclosed or partially destroyed the surrounding facilities. The project is divided into two parts. The first part is included in the old "washing ground"Establish a ticket office and a restaurant, this part is the responsibility of other professionals (alsoUnfinished). Massimo Kalasi is responsible for the rest.Tourist trails start at the entrance plaza and then enter the old iron mine shaft andBetween the lime kiln, reach the top of the old “washing ground” and then arrive at the water storageThe pool has a small road around the reservoir. In a reservoir that is not filled with waterThere is a small pavilion inside, and a model of the former iron ore is displayed in the pavilion. FromThe trail enters the new "washing ground" (without the original roof), passing the previousThe huge steps used to support the machinery are up, reaching the highest point, the tourists from oneThe entire iron mine and the surrounding valleys can be seen on the cantilevered balcony. AlongThe old stairs parallel to the "washing ground" exterior wall go down, passing the electricity on the rightThe ladder motor room reaches the entrance of the two elevator shafts. Then, around the steel towerPassing behind the old iron mine shaft, passing through two slopes, back to the entrance plaza. Can enter the original carpentry workshop, now, the belt is set in the carpentry workshopPanels with explanatory text.Due to the complex structure inside the iron ore, the light brown solid steel strip is deliberately used.Making railings, stairs and ropeways to form a transparent steel floating in the airThe belt is eye-catching but at the same time blends in with the environment of the old mine.
The project's intention was to use the abandoned ruin as a park and outdoor museum. Making the unsafe piece of industrial archaeology visitable and through a sinuous pathway, presenting mining process and the spectacular ambient to its visitors. The Ravi Marchi mine consists of two mine shafts dating from 1918 and 1955 respectively and two “Laveria” buildings that housed the machinery for extracting the pyrite from the ore. It also includes and series of other buildings including lime-kiln, decantation tanks, water cisterns, carpenters workshop, explosives deposit necessary for the functioning mine. During the closure of the mine the majority of the machinery were dismantled and removed and many ambients buried and blocked off or partly demolished.
The project was divided in two, a first part involving a ticket office and restaurant in the old“Laveria” was the responsibility of other professionals (and is yet to be completed), while Massimo Carmassi was given the responsibility of the remainder of the mine.
Beginning from the entry piazza the visitors path proceeds between the old mine shaft and the lime-kiln, the top of the old “Laveria” and the water reservoirs leading to a walkway circumscribing the principal decantation tank. Within this tank partly refilled with water is inserted a small pavilion which is to contain a model of the functioning mine.
The pathway then enters the new “Laveria” (which is missing its original roof) and climbs up through the giant steps that supported the absent machinery, arriving at the summit to offer from a cantilevering balcony a view of the entire mine and the surrounding valley. The visitor then descends parallel to the outer wall of the laveria down the original stairs passing a building housing the lift motors on the right and arriving at the entrance level of the double lift shaft. Then circling the steel towers passes behind the old mine shaft and traverse a double ramp returns to the entry piazza and entry old carpenters workshop converted to contain explanatory panels. In response the diversity encountered within the mine the walkways were given a strongly recognizabilty, using almost exclusively built of beige solid steel rods to realise balustrades, stairs and suspended walkways. A transparent steel ribbon weavings through the unearthed remains of the abandoned mine intentionally distinct yet at home in the industrial past.
